If a dry kibble lists 36% crude protein and 10% moisture, its dry matter protein is:

Even though the kibble looked much higher in protein at first glance (36% vs. 10%), the wet food actually contains more protein on a dry matter basis (45.4% vs. 40.0%), making it a more biologically appropriate diet for an obligate carnivore.

The Clinical 7-Day Dietary Transition Protocol

If you need to change your pet’s food—whether transitioning a puppy to adult food, switching to a prescription diet, or moving to a higher-quality brand—never do it overnight.
